Goal 16.6

Develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels

EVALÚA - Evaluating Government Policies in Latin America and the Caribbean

Justification:

The EVALÚA project contributes to Target 16.6 by promoting the evaluation of public policies aimed at strengthening effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels. The evaluations we support in EVALÚA contribute to the transparency and accountability of partner institutions. With the use of the evaluation we promote, institutional accountability is reinforced in the delivery of results to implementing institutions and citizens. Emphasis is placed on the use of findings for effective resources reorientation.

Goal 16.7

Ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels

EVALÚA - Evaluating Government Policies in Latin America and the Caribbean

Justification:

The EVALÚA project contributes to Target 16.7 by promoting evaluation techniques and methodologies that include participatory, inclusive and representative processes, especially in the collection of information.

Indicator 16.7.1

Proportions of positions (by sex, age, persons with disabilities and population groups) in public institutions (national and local legislatures, public service, and judiciary) compared to national distributions

Justification:

The aim is to have an impact on all the evaluations that EVALÚA carries out with inclusive canons and that seek to highlight the specific particularities of people from the first information gathering.

Goal 16.A

Strengthen relevant national institutions, including through international cooperation, for building capacity at all levels, in particular in developing countries, to prevent violence and combat terrorism and crime

EVALÚA - Evaluating Government Policies in Latin America and the Caribbean

Justification:

The EVALÚA project contributes to Target 16.A by promoting the evaluation of public policies aimed at strengthening national institutions for the prevention of violence and the fight against terrorism and crime.1. Support is being given to the Paraguayan Ministry of Finance with an evaluation of all State interventions for victims of human trafficking. The objective is to advise implementing institutions towards effective attention with an emphasis on combating criminal networks. 2. We are supporting the Colombian Planning Department (DNP) with an advisor who, through behavioural experiments, will accompany the evaluation of the rehabilitation of the prison population and this will allow Colombia in taking preventive decisions.

Goal 16.B

Promote and enforce non-discriminatory laws and policies for sustainable development

EVALÚA - Evaluating Government Policies in Latin America and the Caribbean

Justification:

The EVALÚA project contributes to Target 16.B through inclusive assessment processes that will guide the formulation of non-discriminatory public policies in favour of sustainable development. We are introducing two perspectives as a condition for every evaluation we carry out: the gender approach on the one hand and sustainability and the inclusion of people with disabilities on the other hand.
