The Seda Project participated in the 2018 edition of Emitex, Simatex and Confemaq, an exhibition of the textile industry that had its appointment at the Costa Salguero Center on 10, 11, 12 and 13 April.

During the three days the more than 10,000 professional visitors who visited the fair could know the space of the Silk Project and live the sericultural experience from the creation of buds, to the making of products. In a networking area, those interested in the Project were able to exchange knowledge with the referents of INTI, the coordinating institution, and to generate commercial ties with invited silk producers and designers.

The space of the Project had a tour of the primary production stage in which visitors observed the silkworms weaving their cocoons. Continuing with a section of intermediate production in which silk and schapé threads were exposed and, finally, a showcase with final products, from garments to floss and silk soaps.

In addition, the design of the environment included explanatory panels and video projections on the work and role of each of the entities that are part, namely: the State University of Maringá, Brazil; the Experimental Station Indio Hatuey, Cuba; the Board of the Tourist Center and Sericultural Training and Rebocería, Mexico; the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires; the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Colombia and the Cooperativa Sociolario, Italy.

The week of the exhibition in Costa Salguero coincided with the visit of Giampiero de Marchi and Emiliano Bonaccorsi, two experts from the European Union in charge of monitoring the ADELANTE Program.

This event allowed contact with businessmen, suppliers and garment manufacturers of the textile industry about the silk market in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as disseminate future actions to be carried out within the framework of the Silk Project.
