The evaluation project of government policies in Latin America begins

This project is included within the first call of the European Commission with a focus on cooperation between southern countries, based on the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. The workshop was held on the occasion of the official launch of the project before the regional authorities and representatives of the European Commission. In addition, the event has been used for the approval of the Annual Operative Plan (AOP) by the entities participating in the project.

Those attending the opening ceremony unanimously showed their interest in the project, highlighting the usefulness of sharing visions and experiences related to the field of evaluation of public policies between institutions. The Deputy Director of the Office of Planning and Budget of the Ministry of the Presidency of Uruguay, Martín Dibarboure, host of the activity, has highlighted the importance of evaluation as "a tool to detect achievements or correct the direction of policies that require it, in addition to align its approach towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) ".

On the part of EVALÚA, Miguel Ángel Lombardo, project manager, has presented the lines of action and the conceptual approach of it, which constitute the basis of the work planned for the next three years.

During the three days of the workshop, the preparation of the National Evaluation Agendas, the institutionalization of evaluations in the Latin American region, as well as the strategies to generalize the use of the evaluation and the methods of accreditation of the quality of These evaluation studies. These and other topics will be addressed in depth and jointly by the participating institutions during the next years of project execution, which also foresees the development of several public policy evaluation processes, establishing a review system among the countries.
