ADELANTE Programme: Triangular Cooperation European Union Latin America and the Caribbean

Textile Engineer Natalia Salvatierra from the National Institute of Industrial Technology was selected to participate in the "Post Cocoon Technology" international training at the Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI), Bangalore, India, organised by ITEC: Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation.

India ranks second among silk producing countries, with about 18% of total silk produced worldwide and a productivity level of 100 kg/ha. The training aimed at taking stock of and learning about the progress in technology applied to the transformation of the silk cocoon, interacting with Indian craftsmen and understanding the sericulture model developed in this country.

Within the framework of international cooperation, this kind of events is part of the training programs of ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation), an Indian agency that encourages cooperation between countries.
