From September 24 to 28 of 2018, the 2nd Meetings of the Technical Reference Committee were held in the cities of Medellín and Popayán, Colombia.
With the financing of the European Union as one of the activities of the Regional Project Strengthening Restorative Justice, on October 1st and 2nd the Delegation of Costa Rica and Colombia, began an exchange of experiences on this subject in the State of Mexico.
The meeting was held in Toluca, State of Mexico, and its main objective was to learn about Restorative Justice practices developed in the three countries in order to sensitize and train judicial personnel and the community of the three countries.
The European Commissioner for Development and Cooperation, Neven Mimica, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Roberto Ampuero, were the keynote speakers of the High Level Dialogue held in Santiago, Chile on October 4, on cooperation for development between the European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean.
On September 26, the EVALÚA European Triangular Cooperation Project, managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), was presented at the Casa de América headquarters.
From September 26 to 28, the Mirada Ciudadana project held the 5th Political Dialogue Encounter: Decentralization and Local Governments. It was held in the Session Room of the Government of Alto Paraná, in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. It brought together Governors, Intendants, Mayors and Prefeitos from Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay to reflect on the levels of Decentralization, the role of local governments and the importance of having more resources to carry out public policies that directly impact on the welfare of people who live in the territory.
President Franco was the seat of a very interesting activity with women, where Sonia Gómez also participated, as a reference of Gender of Cerro Largo. It was an encounter evaluated as highly positive, where they participated in a fair where these women presented the clothing and coat products made from the waste of Paraguayan multinational industries. They are clothing for children and adults as well as blankets, capes, bedspreads, carpets, and more.
Last Monday, the coordinator of the Mirada Ciudadana Project, together with the representatives of Gender and several Mayors of Cerro Largo, participated in a workshop in the city of Tacuarembó, where they worked on the topic of International Cooperation and also on the Gender issue in Subnational Governments.
From the Mirada Ciudadana project, we continue to make our contribution to the Municipality of Aceguá, Rio Grande do Sul, on the application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to its different management areas. Along these lines, the 2nd ODS Workshop was held with local governments. The areas of Productive Development, Strategic Planning, Finance and Works of the municipality, together with Prefeito Gerhard Martens, presented their objectives and results.
From the Mirada Ciudadana project we have been committed to strengthening the capacities of all our partners, observing their strengths and weaknesses, working together in the reaffirmation and application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDOs) in their respective governments, so that they can work efficiently and Align to them, leaving also installed capacity in each place.
This international workshop brought together representatives from eight countries to share the different approaches between qualifications frameworks and to identify the potential of this tool for the identification, measurement and development of Cross-Cutting and Socio-Emotional Competences, in order to facilitate their promotion throughout the life cycle and in different population groups.
