Recognized as a referential model for many countries in the region, the Costa Rican Criminal Restorative Justice System's and Juvenile Criminal Justice Program is presented this week before the Judicial Branch of the State of Mexico and specialists from Colombia.

The program is represented by Jovanna Calderón Altamirano of the Costa Rican Program, who is in charge of presenting before the Judicial Branch of the State of Mexico and the delegation of Colombia, the most relevant aspects about the experience of the project in our country.

"The work of the judicial authorities of the three Latin American countries is enriched with the exchange of good practices developed, which can be implemented with the populations of participating nations," said Jovanna Calderon during the opening ceremony of this meeting in Mexico.

"Cooperate internationally with institutions in Colombia and Costa Rica, not only favors citizens, also generates a sense of Latin American community in which the same objectives are pursued," said Magistrate President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the State of Mexico, Sergio Javier Medina Peñaloza.

During these days, the representatives of Costa Rica and Colombia will hold meetings in which they will learn about the experience of the application of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in the State of Mexico in the criminal, juvenile and family, as well as in indigenous communities.

The Regional Project to Strengthen Restorative Justice is financed by the European Union, as a result of a selection made by this organization during 2016, with the aim of promoting international cooperation and strengthening good restorative practices in Latin America.
