The Botana mayor, mayors of Cerro Largo, Peñalolen (ch.) and Prefeito de Candiota (br.) visit the int. of San Isidro Gustavo Posse to continue with the exchange of experiences. In this case, social policies and citizen participation.

The project Mirada Ciudadana: La Buena Gobernanza en Municipios del MERCOSUR (Good Governance in MERCOSUR Municipalities), in which municipalities from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay participate with the support of the European Union, held in San Isidro a political dialogue meeting focused on citizen participation for the design and implementation of Public Policy.

The shared experiences were centered in the social sphere, thus the topics of youth, social integration, transparency in the allocation of housing, integration of the disabled, organic vegetable gardens, prolonged youth (third age), and cultural initiatives were reviewed.

This instance was very positive because the Mayor of San Isidro, Gustavo Posse and the Director of Integration, Arturo Flier, presented the guidelines on which they have based their management and the integration of the community both in the generation of initiatives, decision making and the execution of the same jointly. With this framework a very positive dialogue was opened due to the interest generated by the solutions found and how this learning process was given both by the Municipality and the citizens.

The Mayoress of Peñalolen (one of the main communes of Santiago de Chile), Carolina Leitao, focused on how participation helped them to have a more transparent action and with better citizen control. This contribution opened another very interesting field of work in which priority is given not only to joint action with the community, but also to the use of such joint action in order to exercise better control and greater access to information for citizens. Thus, Open Data actions have been developed, consultation and delivery of information with time controls for its fulfillment. These experiences will be part of the lessons learned in the next activity to be held in the city of Peñalolén in April 2018.
