ADELANTE Programme: Triangular Cooperation European Union Latin America and the Caribbean

A call for Project Ideas for sericulture entrepreneurs was launched within the framework of the Seda Project and with the financial support of the European Union through the ADELANTE Programme. The initiative seeks to strengthen value-added initiatives in the silk production chain that are sustainable, with a gender perspective and that contribute to poverty alleviation in vulnerable sectors.

The total fund amounts to 386,000 EUR to be distributed among projects presented in the countries of the Latin American and Caribbean region participating in the Seda Project, namely Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador and Mexico. The amount to be allocated for undertakings of a collective nature is of up to 40,000 EUR, and up to 20,000 EUR for undertakings of an individual nature.

The Fund aims at strengthening productive processes linked to sericulture in all its stages - primary production, transformation of the textile material and commercialization - so that the producer appropriates the added value of the transformation chain of his production. This implies that they will have priority in the selection, groups, entities or people who are already carrying out activities related to sericulture and whose activities have shown social impact results.

The call consists of 3 stages: (i) the selection of Project Ideas until 30 January 2020, (ii) the presentation of Projects until 15 March 2020 and, (iii) the awarding of the fund within 6 months.
