The Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, held the traditional pruning session of its mulberry field open to the community and students of the UBA Agrotechnical School. Led by Agronomist Claudio Basso, technical expert of this institution for the SEDA Project, the Faculty welcomed many silk producers who attended the gathering to get cuttings of varieties selected for their high protein content to feed the silkworms.

Pruning is very important for the care of trees and shrubs, removing old branches and allowing the plant to rejuvenate with new shoots in spring. In Buenos Aires, this activity is usually carried out in the months of June and July, when the trees have lost all their leaves.
